Zurich Opera House Ballet and Orchestra present a modernised version of the well-known story, in sumptuous costumes. Filmed as a musical from Hollywood, it was a huge success at its premier, ranking as one of the most elegant arrangements of Prokofiev’s popular ballet has ever received. Conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev, one of today’s leading Russian music directors, it is lavishly choreographed by Spoerli, who makes the most of the purely classical sessions of the drama, contrasting them efficiently with the grotesqueries of the ballet mistress and her spoiled daughters. Staring lead dancers Karine Seneca, Stanislav Jemakov and Marine Castel.
