Harmonia Chamber Choir has grown from six people in a garden during the pandemic, to a flourishing chamber choir of around 30 singers. Their expertise, repertoire and beautiful resonant sound has developed beyond all expectations. Their conductor is Jackie Ayres, an experienced teacher, conductor accompanist and Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music.
The Harmonia Chamber Choir concert in Dulverton’s All Saints Church on Saturday 6 June will include some French masterpieces, ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’ and ‘Madrigal’ by Faure, pieces by Boulanger and Cesar Franck, as well as a feast of short British songs, including the atmospheric ‘Where Corals Lie’ by Elgar, ‘Linden Lee’ arr Vaughan Williams, ‘Waly Waly’ from Somerset, a bit of Jazz from George Shearing, and songs from around the British Isles and beyond.
Their soprano soloist is Mary Morgan, who is well known in the world of oratorio and solo song. Their new president, Margaret Archibald, BEM, a professional clarinettist with an international reputation, will also be playing.
This promises to be a very varied and entertaining concert, making a memorable and musical afternoon in the lovely Parish Church. Do come and join us.
Tickets are £10, (cash only please) and refreshments will be served in the interval. Further information available here: https://www.bridgwaterchoral.org/
